Sunscreen 202: A Comparison Review of 36 Sunscreen / Sunblock / Sun Cream I Used Part I


I talked about basic sunscreen knowledge in my previous blog post, so today I will share a brief overview of 30 over sunscreen, sunblock, sun cream, sun milk, sun spray, whatever you wanna call them, with all of you! I will break the review into two parts for your reading convenience. Texture: creamy lotion (with alcohol, slight white cast)
Application: applies like a creamy lotion, leaving a cakey finish
Price: around RM 20
Suitable for: would not recommend at all!

AMPM 10 Peptide Ultra-light UV Lotion SPF30+ PA++


Protection: UVA1, UVA2, UVB (weaker UVA protection)
Texture: lightweight lotion (with alcohol, no white cast)
Application: easily absorbed by the skin, leaving a soft and moist finish
Price: around RM 40
Suitable for: highly recommended to office lady (OL)
Rating: ★★★★☆ (link to review)

A'pieu Pure Block Aqua Sun Gel SPF50+ PA+++


Protection: UVA1, UVA2, UVB (with avobenzone)
Texture: silicony gel (with alcohol, slight white cast before it is fully absorbed)
Application: takes time to get absorbed, leaving a moist and soft finish
Price: around RM 30
Suitable for: normal, oily, and combination skin
Rating: ★★☆ (link to review) (poor absorbency, prefer Biore)

Belif Almighty Sun Powder SPF50+ PA+++


Protection: N/A
Texture: fine powder
Application: feathery light, just like most loose powder
Price: around RM 100
Suitable for: normal, oily, and combination skin
Rating: ★★★☆ (link to review) (not sufficient as a full-fledged sunscreen) 

Belif UV Protector Fresh Sunscreen SPF50+ PA+++


Protection: UVA1, UVA2, UVB
Texture: silicony lotion (no alcohol, slightly white cast)
Application: not very spreadable, leaves a tacky finish
Price: around RM 100
Suitable for: normal, oily, and combination skin
Rating: ★★★ (link to review) (poor absorbency, low CP)

Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence SPF50+ PA++++ (2015 version)


Protection: UVA1, UVA2, UVB
Texture: watery gel (with alcohol, no white cast)
Application: easily absorbed, leaves a moist and soft finish
Price: around RM 25-30
Suitable for: all skin types except sensitive skin (sensitive to alcohol)
Rating: ★★★★☆ (link to review) (not sweat resisting)

Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence SPF50+ PA++++ (2017 Version)


Protection: UVA1, UVA2, UVB
Texture: watery gel (with alcohol, no white cast)
Application: easily absorbed by the skin, leaving a soft and moist finish
Price: around RM 25-30
Suitable for: all skin types except sensitive skin (sensitive to alcohol)

 Biotherm UV Supreme SPF 50 PA+++ | Review


Protection: N/A
Texture: lotion (no white cast)
Application: easily absorbed by the skin, leaves a tacky finish, smells funky (rotten fruit)
Price: around RM 150
Suitable for: all skin types, especially dull skin
Rating: ★☆ (link to review)

Cosrx Aloe Soothing Sun Cream SPF50+ PA+++


Protection: UVA1, UVA2, UVB
Texture: bouncy gel cream (no white cast)
Application: takes time to get absorbed, leaving a soft and silky finish
Price: around RM 50
Suitable for: normal to dry skin
Rating: ★★★★☆ (link to review)

Hada Labo Air Aqua UV Day Emulsion SPF50/PA+++


Protection: UVA1, UVA2, UVB
Texture: lotion (no alcohol, no white cast)
Application: easily absorbed by the skin, leaving a silicony finish
Price: around RM 50
Suitable for: combination, normal to dry skin
Rating: ★★★☆ (link to review) (low CP)

Hada Labo Perfect UV Gel SPF50+ PA++++


Protection: UVA1, UVA2, UVB
Texture: watery gel (with alcohol, slight white cast)
Application: easily absorbed by the skin, leaving a soft and moist finish
Price: around RM 50
Suitable for: all skin types, sensitive skin needs to patch test before using
Rating: ★★★★★ (link to review)

Hera Sun Mate Essence Gel SPF40 PA++


Protection: N/A
Texture: lightweight emollient cream (slight white cast)
Application: fairly easily absorbed, leaving a silky and tacky finish
Price: around RM 100
Suitable for: normal to dry skin
Rating: ★★★☆ (the consistency is too rich to apply 1/4 tsp)

Innisfree Eco Safety Daily Sunblock or 
Daily UV Protection Cream SPF35/PA++



Protection: UVA1, UVA2, UVB (a lot of UVB filters used)
Texture: lightweight emollient cream (no alcohol, slight white cast)
Application: fast absorbing, leaving behind a tacky and semi-matte finish
Price: around RM 50
Suitable for: normal to dry skin

Innisfree Eco Safety No Sebum Sun Milk SPF50+ PA+++



Protection: UVA1, UVA2, UVB (pure physical filters)
Texture: powdery liquid (no alcohol, with white cast)
Application: sinks into the skin really quick, leaves a matte finish
Price: around RM 60
Suitable for: sensitive, acne-prone and oily skin
Rating: ★★★★ (link to review) (drying but will be great for sensitive and oily skin)

IOPE UV Shield Sun Protector SPF 50+ PA+++



Protection: N/A
Texture: emollient cream (with white cast)
Application: takes time to get absorbed, leaving a tacky finish
Price: around RM 100
Suitable for: normal to dry skin
Rating: ☆ (gives me headache)

It's Skin 2PM Sunblock SPF50+ PA+++



Protection: UVA1, UVA2, UVB (with zinc oxide)
Texture: rich emollient cream (no alcohol, slight white cast)
Application: takes time to get absorbed, leaving a sticky and silky finish
Price: around RM 50
Suitable for: dry and mature skin
Rating: ★★★☆ (link to review) (the ingredient is great but the consistency is too rich)

Kiehl's Ultra Light Daily UV Defense SPF 50+ PA++++



Protection: UVA1, UVA2, UVB (with meroxyl)
Texture: lightweight lotion (with alcohol, no white cast)
Application: fast absorption, leaves a soft finish
Price: RM 150 / 30ml
Suitable for: all skin types
Rating: ★★★★☆ (everything is perfect except that it is too expensive)

Kiss Me Sunkiller Perfect Water Essence SPF 50+ PA++++



Protection: UVA1, UVA2, UVB
Texture: watery gel (alcohol derivatives, no white cast)
Application: fast absorption, leaves a soft and moist finish
Price: around RM 25-30
Suitable for: all skin types especially oilier skin
Rating: ★★★★☆
